Tony Hawk and his crew came to Calgary in 2001 for a demo at Millennium Park. It was a stacked line up. Joining Tony were: Bam Margera, Jason Ellis, Bucky Lasek, Mike Vallely, Alex Chalmers, and a bunch more.

A few veteran Calgary skaters took it upon themselves to build their own spot not too long ago.
It’s referred to as “The Slab” and has half a dozen obstacles now. It’s been a great addition to the neighbourhood, not to mention the Calgary skate scene as a whole.
Kudos to the builders and caretakers of The Slab. Let’s hope everyone takes care of the spot so we can keep skating it for many years to come.
If you skated at The Source Indoor Skatepark or, more recently, the Airdrie skatepark, you may remember Mark Pezzi, a talented skater who was know for large airs, frontside flips, and exceptional ramp skating.
Mark tragically passed away a few weeks ago. Someone put together some old footage of him skating the Beasley skatepark in Hamilton, Ontario. Watch and remember Mark’s style and sense of humour:
The city and their consultant are looking for feedback in the development of Prairie Winds Park. In their initial engagement, a skatepark was identified as a resource currently lacking in the park. This is great news, since to date the City’s Skatepark Development project hasn’t recommended any skateparks in the northeast quadrant.
There is a public engagement session on Wednesday, October 29th from 6:30PM-8:30PM. The location is the Falconridge/Castleridge Community Association Hall (95 Falshire Dr NE).
“The workshops will include a chance to review the initial design concepts for the park. There will also be information on the public feedback received in the first phase of the project.”
