Thanks to everyone who “dropped in” to the Go Skate Day event at Mills, great times were had by all! Lots of skaters participated in the contests, especially the under 12 competition which had some entrants that looked a little old to be groms, but Go Skate Day is all about having fun skating, and there is no doubt that the event was a success in that way. Quintin David won the highest ollie contest, ollieing 37.25 inches! A surprise visit by Nixon saw a lot of stickers given away, and one lucky skater took home a new watch from them! The local media came out and you can check out the Calgary Herald and the Calgary Sun videos, both sharing the stoke for Go Skate Day in Calgary. CASE thanks to sponsors that made it happen:
Dustin Henry has a cameo in Issey Yumiba’s “recruited” part on The Berrics! Thanks to CASE member Walter for pointing this out. He shows up just after the 2-minute mark in the video:
June 21st is Go Skateboarding Day. Come out to Millennium Park from 4-7 to skate and have fun! Also, Nixon is giving out prizes for tricks at spots around the city using Instagram.
CASE supporter, Kevin M sent us a link to his video Extra Medium. It was made in 2005-2006 and features a lot of well-known Calgary skaters in their younger days. If you missed it back in the day, watch it here:
