The Mayor’s Youth Council is conducting a survey on skateboarding in Calgary and they need skaters under 18 to complete a survey. If you skate, are from Calgary, and are under 18, please help the Youth Council out here!
Medicine Hat Skateboard Association on The Berrics
The Berrics has posted a video that tells the story of the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association, and how they kept going even after their indoor park was destroyed by snow. A lot of Calgary skaters make appearances in the video.

Every year CASE invites all of our members as well as everyone else in the Calgary skateboarding community and those who support skateboarding, to our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Our AGM is an opportunity for CASE to share what we have accomplished, what we are working on, and what we have planned. It will also be a chance for us to answer your questions, and hear your ideas and suggestions about what we can do for skateboarding in Calgary. If you want to get involved in any of CASE’s efforts, you can check into that opportunity as well as CASE needs more people to contribute, a little or a lot, to help push skateboarding forward in Calgary
We are making progress towards getting more skateparks in Calgary, and in making our city a more skate friendly place. The progress is not as quick as we’d all like, but the progress is definite. We’re making a difference for Calgary skateboarders and we hope you can make in on May 2nd so you can hear about developments first hand!

Daniel K’s Story
As a follow up to our last post regarding city bylaws, here is Daniel K’s story from a recent encounter with the law:
Me and two friends were skating down Stephen Ave. I skated between two people I thought were bylaw officers on bicycles; they never announced they were police. They chased me through traffic and ended up tackling me at full speed from their bikes. [They] split my face open, dislocated my shoulder, and ripped out a lot of my hair. At first they tried to charge me with obstruction, assault, assault on a police officer, running a red light, and skateboarding in a no-skateboarding zone.
As I walked to the police station with them, I got a chance to talk to them, I was able to calm them down. Deflating the situation a little, they ended up only charging me with obstruction, and the tickets I got for skateboarding were never filed.
In the end it all worked out; at first the cops were being a little excessive but also doing there job. So to the youngsters that hate cops almost as much as i do, just remember keep calm, remember your manners, and show a little respect, and chances are they will go lightly.
