Sad news from Red Deer, the local skateshop and indoor skatepark known to locals as Vedge is closing its doors on April 30th. Vertical Edge is the latest victim of the economic downturn that saw Calgary lose Skaters, an iconic skateshop, while another is said to be under bankruptcy protection and up for sale. If you can, get out and session Vedge one more time, and wish the owners and staff good luck in their future ventures. I’m sure they’d appreciate any business you can give them too.

The City of Calgary is looking for feedback before they develop this year’s budget. Go to this site or the Facebook and Twitter sites to respond. More outdoor skateparks, an indoor skatepark, and more skate-friendly laws would be two great suggestions.
You gotta hand it to the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association. These guys lost their indoor skatepark when the roof caved in about a month ago. They were helping out less than a week later, raising money for charity with a bottle drive.
Well, the MHSA is at it again: they’re still throwing their annual competition, “Cold Hard Cash” on Saturday, March 19th. Check the poster for details:
