Clean Up Shut Down by Bylaw Officers

Thanks to everyone who came out to the clean up on Saturday. Lots of people cleaned up lots of garbage in a short period of time. Unfortunately, by-law officers ordered us to stop pretty quickly into the day.
We were told that we would be fined $500 for setting up a tent in a public park without a permit and giving out free stuff in a public park.
It’s unfortunate that bureaucracy gets in the way of fun events that are beneficial to everyone but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Millennium Park Update/Clean Up

Okay, here’s the deal. It snowed yesterday but most of it seems to have melted and the park seems to be pretty clean anyway. Come out and skate, have fun, and get some prizes.

Construction Update: there is a blue construction fence bordering the north side of the park and it will be expanded to include the large bowl/full pipe on Monday, April 12th. From the City of Calgary:

“”The West LRT project office was informed today the western most bowl (the big expert one) in Shaw Millennium Park is closing due to West LRT construction on Monday, April 12, 2010. This closure is necessary to establish a safe zone around the area where the contractor is installing the elevated guideway piers.”
