City staff have been installing gates at Millennium Park for the past few weeks. You may recall the outreach/engagement the city did two seasons ago to decide whether or not to revert Millennium Park back to “open 24 hours”. Some officials were pushing for the park to close at 11PM nightly (as all other city parks do) in the interest of safety.
CASE members lobbied successfully for the park to return to open 24 hours but as a trade off, the city decided to install gates to block off all of the covered/hidden areas at the park. Read more in Metro News by clicking the photo below:

The City of Calgary is currently in the process of examining the bylaw that prohibits ramps and other skateable surfaces on private property. This includes halfpipes/mini ramps, rails, quarter pipes, launch ramps, and grind boxes.
After CASE representatives contacted all major cities in Canada to find no other city has such a bylaw, they reached out to Councillor Evan Woolley. The Councillor brought forward a Notice of Motion to examine the ramp bylaw, which was passed a few months ago.
Read this to learn more about the proposed size restrictions to ramps.
If you really want to help change this bylaw, please attend the information sessions listed below and complete the online survey (available until November 30th).

Local artists Eric and Mia have completed one of the art components of the new skateparks. “Skaters From Around Here (and Elsewhere)” is a hand-illustrated ‘zine that will be circulated to thousands of homes in the areas of the new parks. They are also available at local skate shops now. Read more here.
