There will be a memorial for Mark Pezzi at the Airdrie Skatepark on Saturday, November 1 at 2PM. Mark’s ashes will be scattered by his mom and his son will be skating. Following that there will be a gathering at Nose Creek Valley Museum, 1701 Main St SW in Airdrie.
Friend of CASE, Dan Robinson, is selling his home. What’s unique about Dan’s place is the garage is home to a very cool ramp, called “The Mental Block”.
A new skatepark is being planned for Bowness and you can have a say in how it will look. The meeting is on Wednesday, October 22nd at 7PM at the Bowness Community Centre (7904 43 Avenue NW)
Tony Hawk and his crew came to Calgary in 2001 for a demo at Millennium Park. It was a stacked line up. Joining Tony were: Bam Margera, Jason Ellis, Bucky Lasek, Mike Vallely, Alex Chalmers, and a bunch more.
A few veteran Calgary skaters took it upon themselves to build their own spot not too long ago.
It’s referred to as “The Slab” and has half a dozen obstacles now. It’s been a great addition to the neighbourhood, not to mention the Calgary skate scene as a whole.
Kudos to the builders and caretakers of The Slab. Let’s hope everyone takes care of the spot so we can keep skating it for many years to come.
