Please Practice Physical Distancing at Skateparks

May 11, 2020 | By-laws, Skateboarding, Skateparks

City of Calgary officials have repeatedly said that they are finding skatepark users are not practicing physical distancing. Physical distancing means staying at least two metres (six feet) away from other users at all times.

Skateparks are in danger of being temporarily closed due to the lack of physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please respect the rules so that parks may remain open.

We understand that the majority of you are following the guidelines and staying away from busy skateparks and distancing if you are at a park. Unfortunately, a few idiots may ruin it for the rest of us— the City may close skateparks again. If you see someone who is not keeping a physical distance of 2 metres, explain the situation to them. This ESPECIALLY goes for park lurkers who are just sitting around, not skating. We’ve made sure City of Calgary officials are aware that people going to skateparks to “just hang out” are making it more difficult for those of us who just want to skate safely. . . #calgaryskateboarding #calgaryskatepark #calgaryskateparks #yycskateboarding #yyc #Calgary #nolurkers #3block
