Mobile Park Equipment Stolen

burglar
It’s been brought to our attention that a few ramps and rails from the City of Calgary Mobile Skateparks have been stolen. It’s too bad that someone would take equipment that is free for everyone to skate and things like this seem to hamper efforts to get new parks built.

They would be really easy to return– simply call 311.

Here’s a description of what was stolen:

Rail one: square black flat bar with 4 inch by 4 inch flat metal bars supported by legs, all metal, about 8 feet and has distinct loops welded to the bottom of the flat bar sections.
Rail two: square black flat bar with 4 inch by 4 inch flat metal bars supported by legs, all metal, about 12 feet and has distinct loops welded to the bottom of the flat bar sections, is kinked and goes from 6 inches in height to around 10 inches.
Wedge ramp: metal framed, skatelite topsheet, wood bottom sheet, 2 to 2.5 feet high, 4 feet wide, roughly 6 feet long.
Quarter pipe: 4 foot transitioned quarter pipe section, 4 feet wide, 6 feet long, metal framed, skatelite topsheet.

Millennium Graffiti

Mils spray paint

Well most skaters probably appreciate the new paint job Millennium received, the city has proposed a $60,000 clean up of the graffiti.
In our efforts to show the pride that skaters have in our only real skatepark, we are going to offer our support in the clean up.
It is our hope that we can call on Calgary skaters to assist with the repainting of the park and show our respect for Millennium. This will promote a possitive image for Calgary skaters, and hopefully show the City that we are out there, and do care about our skatepark.

If we are able to assist with the clean up, and you are interested in offering your support, please email your name and contact info. to admin@calgaryskateboarding.com

Leduc Skatepark/Battle of the Bands

Check out this little gem from Spectrum if you haven’t already.

On August 27th from 5-9pm, the massive 23,000 square foot Leduc Skatepark will host one of the sweeter events we’ve seen in a long time. Not just a skateboard contest, they’re going full-on with a Battle of the Bands and a complete Youth Fest on-site in the park! Talks are underway to get a ripping demo team in as well, stay tuned for more news on that.

Langdon Park is Open!!!!!!!!!

Just to recap on the Langdon Park Opening, the Spectrum boys put together an interesting little park for our skating pleasure.
It was an extremely hot day, but that didn’t turn down the stoke for anyone who attended the days events.
A huge thanks goes out to all the local skate businesses from Calgary, Strathmore, and Chestermere for the generous donations of gear. I think everyone who attended went home with something new for the summer!

Enjoy!!!
